If you’re searching for the next great designer bag to purchase, use TZR’s Carried Away series as your shopping guide. Here, we’re highlighting the newest releases from the top luxury labels and why they deserve a spot in your closet.

It can be difficult to keep up with the latest launches from your favorite brands, if you’re not constantly stalking their websites or Instagrams for drops. After all, the fashion cycle moves fast. Luckily at TZR, it’s our job to track the must-have items on the market and clue you in on what is actually worth purchasing. One of our favorite categories to follow? Handbags. Right now, we’re tracking the newest designer purses for Spring/Summer 2023 from your favorite labels like Fendi and Isabel Marant. This season, Fendi released The Peekaboo Cut, a fresh iteration of its iconic Peekaboo handbag, while the French-girl favorite brand introduced a new moon-shaped style perfect for everyday wear.

As you peruse through the latest drops ahead, you may also want to note which styles tap into Summer 2023’s biggest handbag trends, if this affects your purchasing decision. For instance, green hues were spotted on the runways of Jil Sander, Prada, and Givenchy. If you’re drawn to this verdant color, then Givenchy’s Voyou in mint will speak to your personal tastes. Conversely, if you’re not concerned with following the runway trends and desire a classic, everyday option then look to Ferragamo’s Trapezio. Make no mistake though, the unassuming design has pizzazz thanks to the gold logo and luxe leather details.

Continue on to discover this season’s must-have totes, shoulder bags, and more. Then, bookmark this post as it will be updated with even more drops from designer brands through the season.

Gabriela Hearst

Named after artist and activist Nina Simone, this iconic bag to the Gabriela Hearst brand can be easily identified by several features. Note its structured top handle with a distinctive round pouch that gently unfolds from a turnlock closure. The Nina is made from smooth Italian Nappa leather, giving it that otherworldly luxe feel.

Prada

The label’s latest limited-edition Galleria handbags merge fashion with art. Comprised of eight purses, the line-up showcases the surrealist work of Venezuelan-American artist Alex Da Corte via vivid, poppy hues like highlighter yellow and flamingo pink. To celebrate the new launch, Prada tapped actor Scarlett Johansson to front the campaign, and you can still shop her exact bag ahead. (The styles are quickly selling out, though, so don’t wait on purchasing one that you love.)

Saint Laurent

Celebrities like Blackpink singer Rosé and actor Laura Harrier are loving the house’s new Jamie 4.3 bag. According to a press release, the large flap chain silhouette for summer is a reinterpretation of the Jamie bag from Saint Laurent’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection, so you can expect new details like the maison’s “Carré Rive Gauche patchwork motif reinterpreted in a maxi size.”

Marc Jacobs

Luxury brands are leaning into nostalgia for the season as Marc Jacobs has also revived a beloved past bag style — the St. Marc — for summer. The accessory, which first popped up in the Fall 2016 collection, now features smooth Italian leather with a distinctive “M” shape and chain link J Marc hardware closure. You can carry the top handle as is, or attach the adjustable leather strap to wear across the body for hands-free styling.

Etro

The label’s Vela Bag now comes in a mini size, which still retains that sharp and refined silhouette you all know and love. The sleek and polished purse features a flexible V-shaped closure, a logoed engraved medallion, and is available in wonderful shades such as lime green and sky blue. It’ll be hard to pick a favorite hue, but trust your gut or us, as we love the orange iteration.

Dior

If your purse collection is missing a bucket style, add the C’est Dior bag into your closet STAT. The new design feels timeless and elegant: it features a top handle with an adjustable, and removable chain strap, along with a CD Lock closure. If this logo placement isn’t enough for you, go for the label’s Oblique jacquard style to make an even bolder stylish statement.

Ferragamo

Maximilian Davis debuts the new Wanda bag, which was first introduced in 1988 in honor of Salvatore Ferragamo’s wife, Wanda Ferragamo. The fresh iteration holds its original, sleek shape but now comes in three new models: a horizontal silhouette to look like a clutch, a vertical square shape, and a mini version for evenings. The adorable baby Wanda, you’ll see, has an airbrushed look for that ombré effect, which is simply divine.

Alexander McQueen

A house signature, the luxury label’s iconic knuckle closure detail is prominently displayed in the house’s new seasonal bag: the Jewelled Hobo. The style comes in several shades like galactic blue and sunset orange, features all-over Hieronymus Bosch inspired embroidery, and has leather and chain shoulder straps you can style multiple ways. Try wearing the purse across your body, or over your shoulder with ease.

Chanel

This season, Lily-Rose Depp, Margaret Qualley, Whitney Peak, and Jennie all star in Chanel’s new campaign for its 22 bag. If the star power alone isn’t enough to convince you to put it on your shopping wishlist, then the luxurious design and cute colors are sure to win you over.

Gucci

This season, don’t be surprised if everyone is talking about the release of Gucci’s Bamboo 1947 bag. The design is in the spotlight starting April 28, as it will be prominently featured in Gucci Cosmos, a new exhibition in Shanghai featuring the maison’s most notable designs from its 102-year history. According to a press release, “the exhibition is designed by British artist Es Devlin, who has also created a special installation for the Bamboo 1947 that can be found in dedicated window displays and inside select Gucci boutiques around the world.” Suffice it to say, this item will be everywhere soon.

Alaïa

Pieter Mulier presents Le Papa as a nod to the house’s late founder Azzedine Alaïa. The story behind the bag’s name will tug at your heart strings: According to Harper’s Bazaar, the couturier and shoe designer was known for being a warm and kind person to all his friends, models, and editors. Azzedine became a father figure to many, especially Naomi Campbell in her teenage years, who reportedly called him “papa” as a form of endearment. Now, decades later, Azzedine’s spirit lives on through this sculptural bag.

Versace

Versace debuts its Repeat bag for Spring/Summer 2023, which is a re-edition of an archival Versace hobo bag from the early 2000s. The new style features Medusa zipper hardware, a detachable and adjustable shoulder strap, and a half-moon design. You can shop it in multiple colors and sizes now.

Chloé

The luxury brand unveiled its latest line of bags called Penelope, which comes in three variations. The first is the Penelope Shoulder Bag (available in small, medium, and large), which has a slouchy silhouette that’s emphasized with braiding along the seams and the edges of the front flap. Meanwhile, the Medium Flap Bag features a more structured form like that of a box and comes in neutral hues like white, black, and mahogany. The final Penelope is a clutch style, available in multiple hues, that can be carried by hand or worn on the shoulder with a detachable strap.

Givenchy

For a hobo style you’ll want to wear every day, check out Givenchy’s Voyou. The name references a slang term in French for “bad boy” while the design of the purse merges everyday Parisian elegance with a California cool sensibility. According to a statement from Givenchy’s Creative Director Matthew M. Williams, he said: “I wanted to revisit fashion articles with a kind of new language and a playful attitude. With the Voyou, you know at a glance that it’s Parisian, but it’s at home wherever it goes, and it makes an everyday style statement that has true staying power.”

Isabel Marant

The French fashion label’s signature line of studded bags, known as Oskan, gets a new family member. The Oskan Moon is crafted from various materials, from a soft and delicate shiny vegetable-tanned leather to an eye-catching glossy leather. Opt for the purse in pearl rose — it’s a pink-beige color — if you want a hue that’s not black but will still match every outfit.

Loro Piana

If you’re a fan of Loro Piana’s luxe ready-to-wear pieces, you won’t need much convincing to scoop up the label’s new bag: Bale. According to a press release, “[This purse] was inspired by the story of the Loro Piana family, which, starting in the late 1970s, set off in search of the best raw materials nature has to offer to create elegant, timeless clothes. In particular, on the harsh highlands of Mongolia and Inner Mongolia, they found the finest cashmere, which is still delivered by nomadic shepherds in bales and stored in the company’s spinning mill of Roccapietra, Piedmont ... hence the name Bale, a bag with a design and a texture reminiscent of the precious fibre bales discovered by the Loro Piana family.”

The Bale Bag features hand-stitched handles, a suede tone-on-tone lining and a removable inner pouch. Meanwhile, the adjustable shoulder strap wraps all the way around the bag to create a loop motif that echoes the cords and belts once used to fasten the bales.
